$1 U.S. Brown Seal Note – Hawaii, 1935-A (Good to Fine)
This $1 Brown Seal Hawaii Note is a historic World War II-era issue, printed as a Silver Certificate and marked with bold "HAWAII" overprints on both sides. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the U.S. government feared that Japan might invade Hawaii and gain access to large amounts of U.S. currency circulating there. To mitigate the risk, special emergency banknotes were issued.
Printed in 1935-A, this collectible note features George Washington on the obverse and the traditional green Great Seal of the United States on the reverse—emblazoned with the Hawaii overprint.
