COMPOSITION AND DESIGN
The Krugerrand gold coin is designed to be durable and is therefore .9167, or 91.67% gold, 22 karat gold (22k), with the remainder 8.33% being copper. This South African coin also appears closer to an orange shade than coins alloyed with silver. Each one-ounce coin weighs 33.93 grams (consisting of 31.1 grams of pure gold and 2.83 grams of copper). The South African Krugerrand coin value is determined by its gold content plus a premium that is dictated by market conditions.
The South African gold coin gets its name from a combination of the first Boer president of the South African Republic, Paul Kruger, and the name of the South African currency, the rand.

African antelope-gazelle (reverse) - The springbok, a famous national symbol of the South African Republic, is on the reverse. The words "South Africa" and "fine gold" are displayed in both English and Afrikaans.

I own several 1 Oz Krug but when I received an email from MM with a special offering of 1/10 Oz Krug coins I jumped at the opportunity to acquire some. Loved them. They are bright and beautiful.
