Dear Maine Taxpayer,
The Maine House just voted 72-71 AGAINST ending sales tax on purchases of gold and silver coins and bullion...
The bill, LD 1051, now returns to the Senate, where they will vote whether to accept the House's NO vote, or to INSIST the House accept the Senate's original YES vote.
This measure has already passed with a bipartisan majority of the Maine Joint Committee on Taxation, and passed out of the Senate last week -- but it's extremely important they vote to insist on passage.
Your calls and emails about this important issue matter now more than ever.
We can't stop now.
The D-Day for ending Maine sales taxes on gold and silver is THIS Thursday.
That's why we URGENTLY need you to CALL AND EMAIL the Maine Senators listed below and urge them to INSIST on passage of LD 1051.
Please do it now.
It isn't often when taking just 5-10 minutes of your time can achieve something so meaningful for freedom and sound money.
Time is running short.
If the Senate does not vote in favor of LD 1051 again, Maine citizens will continue to be penalized with a ridiculous sales tax when they seek to protect the purchasing power of their money using gold and silver.
Maine is one of just 7 states that still tax gold and silver purchases. Maine's only neighbor (New Hampshire) doesn't charge sales taxes on precious metals either.
Frankly, it's sad that Maine hasn't yet ended this unjust tax. But we have a real shot in the next few days to change this.
If Maine does not pass this popular sales tax exemption for the monetary metals, many investors and savers will either not acquire critical financial insurance in the form of gold and silver...
...or they will simply take their precious metals business to other states to avoid being hammered with Maine's discriminatory taxes. Continued inaction by the legislature would also therefore harm Maine's small businesses... to say nothing of the average citizen.
So please contact the Maine Senators listed below right away and urge them to vote YES on LD 1051 to eliminate sales taxes on the purchase of gold and silver.
With more than $31 trillion in debt, America's inflationary policies have put everyone at risk. This bill would remove a major disincentive in the way of saving wealth in real money, i.e. gold and silver. Respectfully,
Jp Cortez, Policy Director Sound Money Defense League P.S. Please contact the Maine legislators listed above TODAY and urge them to end the sales tax on the monetary metals. Please include your name and city!
