The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, showcases a heraldic eagle with a liberty shield, an olive branch in its right talon, and arrows in the left, beneath 13 stars representing the original colonies.

The heraldic American eagle holds a banner in its beak that says “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Along the top of the reverse side are the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” while along the bottom are the words “1 OZ. FINE SILVER ~ ONE DOLLAR.”
