History of Argor-Heraeus Gold Bars

Argor-Heraeus is a renowned Swiss refinery and mint known for producing bar gold.

Argor-Heraeus is one of the world's largest producers of precious metals products, refining and minting gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Other mints and refineries have historically sought to be more like Argor-Heraeus in production, quality, and transaction. Some of their precious metal products with significant popularity include gold bars, silver bars, platinum bars, and palladium bars. As a general goldsmith company with many resources and services, they also produce precious metal bracelets, watch bands, watch cases, buckles, clips, watch components, earrings, and other fine jewelry items.

Some of the prized precious metals products made by Argor-Heraeus rival some of the most renowned mints in the world, such as the Royal Canadian Mint, the British Royal Mint, the Austrian Mint, the Australian Perth Mint, the US Mint, and certainly the Chinese Mint.

Over half of all the gold items refined and minted by Argor-Heraeus are recycled gold content while the remainder is sourced from sources that adhere to their strict guidelines. Argor-Heraeus employs a rigid Compliance Management System that utilizes Know Your Customer (KYC), strict corporate governance, social responsibility, and environmental impact, also known as an ESG model. Argor-Heraeus prides itself on being The Golden Link between the source of the metal with its corresponding value chain and the clients it serves. This helps to explain the Argor-Heraeus motto “Learn From Diversity.”

Argor-Heraeus first began under the company Argor SA in Chiasso, Switzerland, in 1951. In 1973, Argor SA was purchased by the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) until a new direction was taken with a joint venture with Heraeus, a German technology company, in 1986, leading to the creation of Heraeus SA.

In 1988, the company opened a new headquarters in Mendrisio, Switzerland, where it remains today. By 1999, UBS sold the company completely to Heraeus, helping the company to expand further. Then, in 2017, Heraeus Precious Metals (HPM) acquired 100% of the shares of Argor-Heraeus.

Today, Argor-Heraeus has central locations in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Chile. According to their annual reports and public portfolio, Argor-Heraeus draws in a hefty $23 billion in annual revenue from sales in over 40 countries, while employing more than 15,000 people and controlling 11 global business units (GBU). With over 70 years in business, Argor-Heraeus is one of the most popular precious metals brands in the world, especially known for its high standards and high-quality gold bars.

Argor-Heraeus gold bars are widely recognized and accepted in the global bullion market for their authenticity and quality. The refined gold bars produced by Argor-Heraeus are made with a minimum of .9999 fine (four nines fine) gold, which is 99.99% pure gold. Argor-Heraeus even has a rare .99999 fine gold bar (five nines fine). Each Argor-Heraeus gold bar is engraved with the refinery's logo, weight, purity, and individual serial number. Each Argor-Heraeus gold bar comes in an assay with a certificate of authenticity (COA).

Some of their gold bars, such as the UBS and Argor-Heraeus Kinebar, have a signature security hologram embossed on the surface of the reverse side (back) that creates spectacular light designs. Another unique product made by Argor-Heraeus is their Argor-Heraeus Goldseed, which is an assay card wheel of ten one-gram gold bars (10 x 1g = 10g total).

Some have also described the corollas as resembling teeth.
