$20 Saint Gaudens Pre-1933 Double Eagle Gold Coin, Cleaned/Jewelry Grade
The $20 Saint Gaudens Pre-1933 Double Eagle Gold Coin is one of the most iconic and sought-after pieces in American numismatics. Designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this coin represents the pinnacle of U.S. Mint artistry and craftsmanship. These gold coins were minted by the United States Mint from 1907 to 1933, making them both historically significant and highly collectible.
Coin Highlights:
-
Gold Content: The coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of actual gold content.
-
Purity: The coin is composed of 90% gold and 10% copper, resulting in a gold content of approximately 22 karats.
-
Design:
- Obverse: Features Lady Liberty striding forward, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The U.S. Capitol building is visible in the background, and the rays of the sun extend behind her. This design is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in U.S. coinage history.
- Reverse: Depicts a majestic bald eagle in flight, with the words "United States of America" and "Twenty Dollars" inscribed around the design. The phrase "In God We Trust" appears on coins minted after 1908.
-
Mint: These coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint, Denver Mint, and San Francisco Mint locations.
-
Historical Significance: Minted before 1933, these coins were part of the U.S. government's gold recall during the Great Depression, making surviving examples even more valuable due to their scarcity.
-
Condition: Available in various conditions, from circulated to uncirculated, depending on availability.
-
Year and Design: The year and design of the coin will be based on our limited inventory, ensuring you receive a piece of history with each purchase.
-
IRA Approved: Although not typically eligible for most IRAs due to their collectible status, these coins are highly regarded as a store of value and a hedge against economic uncertainty.

Curtis T.May 13th, 2024My favorite coin.I have more valuable coins, but I just love the history of these. The coin I received does show a fair amount of wear, but it is a 1911 coin. If I could pick a year that would be it. Happy with my purchase and look forward to getting more.

Courtney P.January 15th, 2020In the 20's my great grandfather had one of these in his pocket.Feels so good in my hand and such a treat to the eye. The St Gauden's coins I received were in excellent shape and I will be buying more. I can see why people say gold is real money.

Barry M.April 15th, 2018Reliving the past! After a few delivery delays, I finally received my order of a St. Gaudens gold 20 dollar (double eagle)! My specimen is a 1924(P) slabbed and rated "MS63"!!! The condition and luster of this coin allows me to Experience the past of my maternal Great Grandfather, and Grandfather, as they may have seen this and the other gold Indian coins of the era; they were both avid coin collectors. As, in my past orders, I have been blown away by the quality and condition of all the coins I've received from Money Medals, including even the so-called junk silver fractionals! I think only of Money Metals, as I continue to add to my "collection"!!!!!!!
