Woolly Mammoth: Second in The Ice Age of Canada Coin Series - by the Royal Canadian Mint

The woolly mammoth was the giant among Ice Age mammals roaming the land. The mammoth makes its presence known as the second release in this bullion coin series featuring animals of that age.

The mammoth is an example of megafauna from Canada’s ancient past. Mammuthus primigenius stood over three metres tall at the shoulder and weighed nearly 9 tons (17,600 lbs). The giant beasts are known for their long, curved tusks which are some of the most distinctive fossils of Canada’s Ice Age.

This Ice Age giant is stunningly displayed on a special 2oz pure 99.99% silver Canadian legal tender coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The coin's obverse features the effigy of King Charles III. The obverse also bears the inscription "D.G. Rex" - an abbreviation of the latin phrase Dei Gratia Rex, which means By the Grace of God, King.

The reverse features the mighty Mammoth trumpeting with its trunk raised, as it marches off coin toward the viewer.

The Woolly Mammoth coin carries a 2024 date and is denominated at $10 CAD. Each is marked with its weight and purity: 2 troy ozs .9999 fine silver.

In addition to the striking design that will appeal to any bullion investor looking for something extra special, the Woolly Mammoth coin also incorporates renowned Mint security features, including the maple leaf laser mark and precise radial lines around the border. And at a full two ounces, the coin is thicker than a standard one-ounce bullion coin, giving it an especially satisfying heft.

New issues in the Ice Age of Canada series will be forthcoming, so investors should keep a watchful eye out to see which beast is released next!
