People born under the sign of the Rabbit are considered to be vigilant, quick-minded and ingenious.  Additionally, the coming year of the Rabbit is associated in Chinese element theory with water. It's an auspicious time for the Year of the Rabbit gold coin (2023).  Get yours today, the inventory won't last long.

The Rabbit is the fourth amongst Chinese zodiac animals. According to myth, the Jade Emporer wanted to select a new medicine maker and did not trust a human for the job. So he went to the forest and pretended to be an old man in search of food. He came across a fox, a rabbit and a monkey.

In order to test the virtues of the three animals, he said: “I am too weak to move, please bring me some food.”

The monkey and fox offered him food right away. But the rabbit found nothing he could offer., So instead, it jumped into the fire and offered itself as food. The Jade Emporer was moved by the rabbit’s sacrifice, so he granted the rabbit eternal life and made him the next divine medicine maker.

Allocations of these gold mint coins are limited and tend to sell out fast.

The Perth Mint began minting these special edition coins in 1996, inspired by the Chinese Lunar calendar. Each Lunar Gold Coin Series comprises 12 coins, with just one issued each year. The Year of the Rabbit is the 4th issue in Lunar Series III.
