1 Oz South African Gold Krugerrand Coin

The 1 Oz South African Gold Krugerrand is one of the most iconic and widely recognized gold bullion coins in the world. Introduced in 1967, the Krugerrand was the first modern gold bullion coin, and it quickly became a popular choice for investors and collectors alike.

Minted by the South African Mint, this coin contains 1 troy ounce of 22-karat gold (91.67% pure), combining gold content with durability. The Krugerrand’s historical significance and global recognition make it a valuable addition to any precious metals portfolio.

Coin Highlights:

  • Weight and Purity: Contains 1 troy ounce (31.103 grams) of 22-karat gold, with a gold purity of 91.67% (or 22k).

  • Quality / Type: Bullion, Uncirculated (BU).

  • Design: The obverse features the portrait of Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic, while the reverse showcases the iconic springbok antelope, a symbol of South Africa's wildlife and natural beauty.

  • Legal Tender: Although the Krugerrand does not carry a face value, it is legal tender in South Africa, with its value determined by the current market price of gold.

  • Investment-Grade: The Gold Krugerrand is a staple in the portfolios of both collectors and investors, offering high liquidity and strong market presence.

    Must have gold coin.
I have purchased 3 of these so far. I've received a 1978, 1981, and a 1984. All in perfect condition. I love having gold coins from all over the world so these are a must have for me.

Should have bought a lot more of them!
I bought a 1-oz. Krugerrand (the only gold bullion coin available then) as a gift for my mother in 1976, for $160, close to spot price at the time (which to me at the time, on my then-meager earnings) was a lotta money. I'd intended to buy more, periodically, but never did. That was a mistake! She had it mounted in an 18k bezel, with an 18k chain necklace, and wore it proudly. She left that beautiful coin, mount, and necklace to me in her Will; and now it's one of my most precious and valuable possessions. Since then I've bought more gold--Eagles and bars--paying from $1,600 - $2,000/oz. If I'd kept to my original intention, I'd be very comfortably retired now, at age 72. Learn from that--don't wait too long!

    Great Service and Quality
I bought several Kugerrands. The only disappointing thing about the transaction was that the price of gold only went up $70 an ounce. I guess you can't have everything,

    My First Gold Purchase
Coin was in great condition and was quite proud to have my first gold bullion to go with the silver I've been accumulating. Won't ordern any more due to sales tax being applied to foriegn unpure bullion in my State.
